magical memories

Yes I know I have been really slack of late. No time or inclination to blog, too many excuses, sorry dear reader.

And I've been away. A family trip to paradise for 9 days. Before leaving, I'd been a little anxious about the weather, but mother nature pulled out all the stops and blessed us with the best! I am still revelling in that lovely laid back, contented feeling that you get when you've had a truly special time. Lifelong memories made to treasure.

My family and I went to Heron Island, on the southern part of the Great Barrier Reef. The island is beautiful. A little sandy coral cay two hours from the mainland. Our days consisted of waking each morning to watch the sun rise, taking in all the changing colours as the sky reflected on the water. Every day we were greeted by a different palate. From soft pastels to vivid reds and purples. The sea itself, crystal clear, warm and inviting that started in the shallows as pale aquamarine that slowly graduated to a deep turquoise. My kids snorkeled with reef sharks, big groupers, turtles and fish and my eldest, who turned 12 while we were away learnt to scuba dive and realised his dream of diving with a manta ray.

Dear Mr S and I indulged in diving too, reigniting our bug for the underwater world and spent many hours just wallowing in the sea just gazing at the pristine scenery, just enjoying being together.  At night, the beach illuminated by a big almost full moon, bathing us in the most beautiful blue moonlight. It was heaven.  I could wax lyrical all day.  But I don't want to bore you.  Let's just say, it made me question all the trappings we have in the modern world - even the shoes (!!!), to wonder whether a simple life, protecting our environment and making the most of this beautiful planet is a better way to go. We certainly didn't miss the TV or Internet or phones or cars - any of it.  Loving every barefoot minute in paradise wishing it could last forever.

Today I am Wearing... a Kmart bikini!
